Sarah Halpern works with light, voice, performance, text, paper and installation. Her work focuses on interpersonal communication and the ways in which media creates or interferes with our perceptions of ourselves and others.
Halpern's work has been presented at Anthology Film Archives, Experimental Intermedia, NYFF's Views of the Avant-Garde, The Kitchen, Microscope Gallery, The Whitney Museum of American Art: Dreamlands Expanded, The Museum of Moving Image and Centre Pompidou among others. She is a MacDowell Colony Fellow, a founding member of Optipus Film Group and has collaborated extensively with electronic musician Matt Wellins. Her work is represented by Microscope Gallery. Halpern lives and works in Queens, NY.
